Ingredients:


Chocolate Cake:


1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 cups granulated sugar

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

Chocolate Frosting:


1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup heavy cream

Chocolate Ganache:


1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup heavy cream

Garnish:


Chocolate shavings

Fresh berries (optional)


Directions:


Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Add the cocoa powder and mix well.

Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth and thin.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.

For the chocolate frosting, beat the butter on high speed until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low speed until combined. Add salt, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes, until the frosting is light and fluffy.

For the chocolate ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it begins to simmer. Pour over the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then stir until smooth. Allow to cool slightly before using.

To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thick layer of chocolate frosting over the cake. Repeat with the second layer. Place the third cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.

Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides. Garnish with chocolate shavings and fresh berries, if desired.
