Salted Caramel Cupcakes Homemade Recipe
Ingredients 🥣
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Sea salt for sprinkling
Salted Caramel Frosting
1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup caramel sauce
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
2-3 tablespoons heavy cream (as needed for consistency)
How to Prepare
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners
In a medium bowl whisk together the flour baking powder and salt
In a large bowl beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition
Mix in the vanilla extract
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternating with the milk beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined
Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners filling each about 2/3 full
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Let the cupcakes cool in the tin for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely
For the Frosting
In a large bowl beat the butter until creamy
Gradually add the powdered sugar and beat until well combined
Mix in the caramel sauce and sea salt. Add heavy cream as needed to achieve a smooth and spreadable consistency
Assembly
Once the cupcakes are completely cooled frost them with the salted caramel frosting
Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt
